Reflections of a float guide

One of our float guides, Hidayah, recently crossed the six-year mark, so we asked her to share some reflections on her journey, plus some of her favourite tips to help guests have a better float.

What do you enjoy about being a float guide?

"I get to meet people from all walks of life! And they're all here for one thing: an hour to unwind and relax to nothingness."

What have you learnt about yourself through floating? What's your biggest takeaway so far?

"Woah, i think it has changed over the past 6 years! Floating has been a part of me during my different phases of life. From being married to pregnant and a new mom, floating has helped me in so many ways to ground me and be in tune to myself.

But for sure, I am thankful for the float club to exist during my pregnancy journey, and the fact that I was regularly floating during the three trimesters helped me in so many ways! Blessed that I had no hiccups or any physical pain during the pregnancy too. I loved the sensation of being a womb in a womb, i get to understand how my baby feels floating around in the womb, without being able to see yet able to hear and feel their mother."

Could you share a tip to help others have a better float experience?

"Do not be afraid to ask our float guides for any concerns you may have prior to your floats. For first timers experiencing a float, the best advice would be 'Just go with the flow'.

When we have certain expectations prior to a float (either from reading articles or friends sharing their float experiences), one needs to understand that as individuals, we each have a different physical and mental state which will definitely affect one's float experience."

What brings you peace lately?

“After many years of floating, it has taught me to slow down and be present. To be more aware and mindful. I tend to worry less about the future that’s beyond my control and plan for the present moment instead.”
